Eating Through: Paris Part II

February 01, 2018

If there's absolutely one thing you need to know about me, it's that I love food like someone would love their family. It not only tastes amazing, but it has the ability to create bond's between people and bring them closer together, and can ignite some serious levels of happiness (I know it does for me!).

If you're visiting from overseas, you'll know that everything is smaller in Europe; the living spaces, the dogs, and even the food! At Fermier Gourmet you'll never have to worry about portion size, and you'll never break the bank, with less than €30 being able to feed two people as pictured above. Look at that huge spread! I can tell you I barely needed to eat anymore that day. There is a wide choice of meats, vegetables and sides that you can mix and match you'll never have the same thing twice, unless you love it that much that is! It's fresh, healthy, and just as delicious as it looks!

Being part Chinese, I had a bit of a serious craving for some Asian food. and Cinq Foir Plus satisfied my craving for some good noodles. This order of noodles with pork hash comes in various spice levels, going from 0.5 all the way to 5. I ordered the 2 and personally didn't find it very spicy, which was a tad disappointing, but it certainly gives me incentive to back again and see how hot I can handle! With filling noodles and a thick broth, it was everything needed to calm my hunger.

So for both this location and the next, I found myself in, what I didn't know at the time was, a franchise. However, I'm not knocking these franchises if you're looking to quickly satisfy a taste you're feeling. If you're a sucker for snacking (I know I am, guilty as charged) then you'll be a sucker for this plate of calamari, and for only €7.50, it's worth it. It's light, crispy, delicious, and lacks the unappealing grease and guilt that comes along with snacking. Enjoy this with a coffee while you catch up with friends, or if you want to wait for peak hour traffic to pass.

It's always fun to end on a sweet treat, especially someone like me with a constant sweet tooth. Late one night after wandering around Les Halles, I came across Amorino. My opinion may or may not be bias considering these were my first macarons in Paris, but they were like sweet little pillows in my mouth, and a million times better than the time I attempted to make them at home. But aside from these bite sized treats, they also have very good coffee and make gelato into the shape of roses in a cone, perfect for those instagram moments that we secretly all know we want to have! Plus a bonus, the Les Halles location is right opposite Centre Pompidou, that gives you an extra excuse to go already.
