Eating Through: Paris Part I
January 24, 2018With every new year comes new opportunities and new experiences and it just so happen that in 2018 I lucked out with the chance to visit Paris for five whole weeks! Talk about an amazing way to start out the year! Sad to say though that one week has already passed and it's safe to say I'm crying inside.
Good news though! This article is going to be the first of the "Eating Through Paris" two-part series, where I'll be making short food guides and recommendations for all the places I've eaten during the week, hopefully giving other visitors such as myself a better idea of where to go and fulfil those international taste buds!
My first meal in Paris couldn't have gotten off to a better start than this amazing plate of food right here; mouth-watering, creamy asparagus risotto with freshly grilled whole prawns. I honestly thought I was biting into heaven and I can tell you right now, I believe that it's the best tasting rice that I've had in my life so far.
You can find this dish at Le Trait D'Union, 122 Rue de Rennes, 75006 Paris
If you're looking for something a little more local, head down to Le Marais, a suburb bursting at the seams with cafes and small restaurants alike, bringing together both residents and tourists. This place is great for those on a budget, you can either have a combination an entree and a main dish, or a combination of a main dish and a dessert for just €16! Main dishes to choose from depend on the day, but I for example got Hake Fish with Pasta, and a simple Steak a Frites and shared around.

An absolute guilty pleasure meat for me by a long run is duck. It's tender, and juicy, and so damn fatty, that it's perfect to love when you eat it and proceed to feel bad about it the next day. This duck leg was succulent and crispy all at once, it almost convinced me to buy a second portion on taste alone. On top of that it came with amazing potato slices that were fried and satisfying, yet not heavy and full of oil, and believe me, I'll be coming back for more before I go back home.
Le Toucan, 226 Rue de Vaugirard, 75015 Paris
What good is a food guide without dessert? And more so, if you end a meal with dessert, surely I should end this blog post with dessert. Simple pleasures like this tiramisu can certainly make the day 100 times better, and I'm sure all of you with a sweet tooth will agree! In this Italian inspired restaurant, you can find both pizza and pasta dishes for under €10 (talk about an absolute bargain), but the real star of this establishment are their desserts, not too sweet but entirely satisfying and perfectly accompanied by a coffee, you could almost claim it as a balanced meal.
